Currently in development with senior managers at Forest Enterprise: an inspirational in-service exploration of creativity across boundaries bringing together; engineers; landscape architects; planners; foresters
Possible outcomes: new approaches and ideas for forest utilisation and leisure management; marketing strategy

Initial thoughts: 1. So what about a 1A Productions pitch? - (I suppose the next port of call will be IWC Media) What approach sounds right (i'm seeing Forestry people over the next few days - so things might change)? 2. an early evening magazine show for each weekday - 'These giant harvesting machines are just about to make mincemeat of this Scottish forest - that'll leave a big hole - but we'll replant - so over to the science centre in leafy Surrey to see how the boffins have developed better modified trees ready to plant' ------'in the New Forest -- we see the first signs of spring - new buds - and commission employees hauling portakabin toilet blocks out from storage - ready for thousands of tourists on the campsites. Mr and Mrs Bloggs hope to manage one of these sites and have produced a business plan to present to the FC - will it be accepted? - their livelihoods depend on it'. 3. Each prog a different aspect of FC that I personally experience - the huge harvesting machines and engineering projects - the drama of dealing with tourists - the issues of science and genetically modified plants etc. - change from forestry to managing our landscape, including finding historic settlements etc where forests used to be - sustainability - art in the landscape, folowing artists etc 4. Following the history of the FC - covering the land in forests after the 1st WW - to change into managing our landscape. For instance - how - years ago - the FC dug ditches all over the New Forest to get rid of the water (loads of it) - consequently - all the villages are now prone to flooding - but now they are reversing this and putting meanders back into the streams to slow down the flow and recreating the natural mires - hows that for an organisation that was up to produce timber cheaply?
